CP 9/11/20

             Today I met with Marcia for the first time. We had a really good conversation about food and public transportation. We also used the exercise provided by Mr. Valentine to learn more about each other. I thought it was cool to learn about Marcia being from Brazil but being Korean. Also, it was interesting to learn how she knows Korean and Portuguese, and technically by learning English she would be trilingual. Good first conversation meeting.

    There are kids out there that speak four or five or more now before they're even adults. Personally, there are a few more languages I'd like to learn, and because of Prof. Kim I've started looking at Korean. I was surprised to learn that many South African nations' peoples all speak more than one language. However, Australia of all places tops that list (all Australians speak two or more languages; Wikipedia, so not sure about that one).

CP 10/9/20

Today I met with Marcia. She talked about how she is working on her applications for different graduate schools. She talked about how she applied to some schools in South Korea and other schools in Canada. She mentioned how it is exhausting to work on all these applications. I then started discussing with her how I always wanted to have a deep southern accent. She was shocked to hear this since she has always tried to overcome her accent in English. I talked to her about how it makes you sound different and adds diversity. After that, we ended up talking about the TEFL internship program and how she thinks Dr. Rios is a really good teacher. She thinks that his ability to understand where the students are coming from really makes him an effective teacher.
