Tutoring session – tutee: Hang-ah 4, Wednesday 9/16, 1330-1430hrs, Zoom.

Covered:  Past new vocab and concepts; continued Wonder

            Last session Hang-ah and I decided to double up and make the rest an hour back-to-back, so that we may ‘get them out of the way’ quicker for the benefit of having to spend less time on this long term assignment, for each other respectively.  This was the first double session.  One of the first things I did with my tutee was to go over some of the things we learned while reading Wonder; social English and such, new vocabulary or concepts, we went over the ideas of puns again.  I think puns might be a good teaching tool by themselves, as the words themselves aren’t limited grammatically to just one or a few elements of English.  Oh, and I noticed my throat got sore in those two hours.  It’s something for us to consider as we face the possibility of speaking to hundreds of kids for hours a day for the next few years.  Hang-ah noticed my throat was bothering me before I did.  I did mention she is an elementary school teacher in Korea, right?
