Tutoring session – tutee: Hang-ah 5, Wednesday 9/16, 1430-1530hrs, Zoom.

Covered:  Reading Wonder and going over new concepts, grammar, vocab.

            We took a 10-ish minute break about an hour into the first and continued with this second hour.  We really just read a lot, to the point that we didn’t notice that we ended up going over our time.  I think it is a decent book, we haven’t gotten to the halfway point yet; the plot is still being set up and some characters are still being introduced.  Found a difficult word to pronounce for her: precept(s).  Might go over some of that in the next session.  Likely though we will have to make a choice on how fast we want to continue reading because we are going to run out of time before we reach the end of the book.

CP 10/9/20

Today I met with Marcia. She talked about how she is working on her applications for different graduate schools. She talked about how she applied to some schools in South Korea and other schools in Canada. She mentioned how it is exhausting to work on all these applications. I then started discussing with her how I always wanted to have a deep southern accent. She was shocked to hear this since she has always tried to overcome her accent in English. I talked to her about how it makes you sound different and adds diversity. After that, we ended up talking about the TEFL internship program and how she thinks Dr. Rios is a really good teacher. She thinks that his ability to understand where the students are coming from really makes him an effective teacher.
