I can tell you from my study of Japanese and also from the minimal pairs Prof. Kim shared with us from Korean that this is a big one in any language study, for me as well. An example from Japanese are the words bridge and chopsticks. Both are 'hashi' in Japanese, but depending on if you emphasize the first or the last syllable gives the right meaning.
