Tutoring session – tutee: Je-won 5, Thursday 10/01, 0800-0900hrs, Zoom.
Covered: responses to specific types of questions for conversational purposes
He is getting a little more confident every time we meet. Every time his volume increases a bit. Importantly, he answers and responds more often without me having to invite or ask for his response. I’m starting to see some distinctions in his vocabulary and have learned some of the words he does know, and what I might therefore think would be new vocab to him. But discerning what is new is still difficult, and important, as I need to maintain some understanding from him of the things I ask him. We went over conversation starters based on questions starting with “have you ever…”, “would you rather…” and “if you could…” types and based a more complete conversation off of those. When he knows he responds confidently and, as I said, without request. I’m going to try and target his vocabulary more in an effort to let him practice more fluidity while speaking to me, while I add new vocab as necessary and level appropriate.
