TS - SANGHUN - September 29, 2020

Today I started the lesson by having Sanghun discuss his pre-prepared topic. He spoke for roughly three minutes about his favorite activities and sports. I again would ask him to elaborate and asked him various questions to get a proper understanding of what he was trying to say. For the most part, I only had to correct a few minor pronunciation errors but overall his pronunciation is improving fast! I think that he has been doing a lot of work with minimal pairs on his own which seems to be helping him. Next we did an exercise online which talked about compound nouns and how to go about pluralizing the. I did a short 5-7 minute explanation on how this works and gave various examples. We discussed exceptions to various rules and he did four activities online that I found prior to the lesson. Sanghun got every single answer right when doing the exercises so I am clear he understands how this works. He seems confident with compound nouns and how to form plurals with them now. We then moved onto the conversational practice. Today the topics I asked him questions about were favorite pass times, baseball, soccer and cultural differences between South Korean hobbies/sports and American hobbies/sports. Sanghun really seems to be getting more comfortable with this back and forths and his use of transitions is also noticably better. I definitely get the sense that he is feeling more confident with conversing casually.
